SAMMI -- Newcastle, CA
New Pix below!
UPDATE March 2007!
3-year-old field-bred liver/white housebroken very sweet neutered male who thinks he's a lap warmer when he cuddles with you.  But best in active home with work-at-home person or young dog for company.  He loves to run, run and run some more!  Needless to say, he loves dogs.  He still wants to chase cats so we're not convinced he's the first pick for a cat.  He has had all his vaccines & is microchipped also.  He's has had basic training but he is VERY SMART and just needs the right situation to learn his little heart out!

Sammi's breeder continues his story..............

Sammi came back to us from the family who adopted him but he outgrew their desires to have a dog, so he stayed in the basement all day at their home with very little attention.  And if you know ESS's , they must be "loved-on" 24/7.  In fact, Sammi doesn't act neglected anymore and loves to lay in your lap on the couch!  Sammi's only real problem is that he is so used to being ignored that he ignores us, but we're all working on that.

He really is a great dog. We would keep him, but we already own his mother, his uncle (another rescue), his brother and a Scottie who thinks he's a ESS!

Sammi is very interested in pheasants so someone WHO LIKES TO HUNT might have the opportunity to work with in this dept.  We'll even help you. We are working on hold and give, but he still needs work.

Sammi goes to work with his owner, who works at the Veteran's Home in Yountville.  See owner's update below.
~~ Dated March 16, 2007
I took Sammy home with me last November and have since been so busy with this wonderful and ENERGETIC guy that I haven't sent any pics yet.  With lots of love and even more patience this boy is really coming around.  He gets plenty of exercise and tons of affection from veterans here at the Veterans Home of Yountville.  He spends his mornings at the Library with me at work.

While I don't hunt, he gets to chase birds and rabbits at an off-leash 30-acre dog park in the hillsides of Napa.(are we lucky or what!)  It is perfect Springer land--grassy, swampy, and birdy!  He runs like a maniac 8+ hours a week.  ~~ Ann (his new owner)
